Perdido Key, Florida

So to do a super quick semi-catch up on what I've {we've} been doing
during my extended blog absence ...
Fun stuff, that's what!

Our family vacation in May to Perdido Key, Florida was a ball!
Can you believe we didn't go to SC?

I can barely believe it myself.
Cause you know that we could vacation in SC every single day of the week & then some!
James had been wanting to go to FL for a while & a friend recommended Perdido Key.
Plus, we wanted a new adventure together with our sons ...

Anytime we are near the ocean, we stay as close to it as possible ... & the condo here didn't disappoint.
We were right on the water.
This is our balcony view.
The whole length of the condo was sliding glass doors ... not a bad view in the whole place.

Put us near the ocean & we will be just fine.
Ahhhh.....

Perdido Key is literally just a hop, skip, & a jump from the Florida - Alabama line ...
just a few minutes from Gulf Shores.
So we got to enjoy the best of both all week.
Here's Riley with one foot in Florida & one in Alabama.

We had fun in Gulf Shores playing a round of mini-gulf & riding go-carts.
I tell ya, these 4 are about as cute as they come!

Our favorite meal/restaurant of the week was at McGuire's Irish Pub in Pensacola.

This is a one-of-a-kind place, for sure!
We've got a knack for finding restaurants with hanging money,
like one of our faves in Charleston, The Griffon.
Yep, those are dollar bills hanging eeeeverywhere throughout the whole place.
I think our waitress said there are over a million!
And I thought this was neat ... last week, we got a postcard in the mail from McGuire's ...
from our waitress.
How neat is that?!

A few other highlights of the week:
we enjoyed visiting the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, the Shrimp Basket {delicious food!}
and we found a great little coffee shop ... just about the cutest place we've ever seen.
I'll tell you all about it tomorrow ... can't wait to show you the inside swing!

We also bought fresh seafood from a shop just down from the condo.
We cooked up shrimp & oysters & had ourselves a feast!

Last, and my very favorite memory, was our evening photo shoot.
You see, this was the last family vacation we'll take, just the 5 of us.
With Garrett & Gunnar both getting married in the fall, this week was a bit bittersweet.

Brothers forever ...

Twins ~ getting hitched in the fall

And this is the man who has taken us to so many fun places through the years ...
he makes all my dreams come true.

We've been blessed to raise 3 wonderful sons who've given us lots of joy.

And LOTS of laughter.

We had an incredible week.
Perdido Key is no Isle of Palms {wink} but anywhere we are together as a family, is good with me.

We decided that we'd end the vacation by spending a few days in Nashville, Tennessee.
Boy, was that a way to end it all!
We laughed our heads off ... & I'll share our pics & tell you all about it in a day or two.

Come back & visit anytime.

  1. What a great trip! I love those spots where you can be in 2 places at once - I have a pic of my husband on a bridge near Niagara Falls where he was in the US and Canada.

    1. I love them too & can't get enough of them! I had a quote on my chalkboard til just a few days ago that said: There's nothing like the ocean's waves to sooth the soul. I totally agree! Thanks for stopping in!
