Baked Potatoes in the Crock Pot

Want my opinion of this recipe?
Stinkin' genius, that's what I think!!
Let me just tell you, this method for baked potatoes rocks ... & I'm SO excited about it!

We love baked potatoes, but the #1 reason we don't have them more often is because they take so long to bake in the oven.
{I've never had too much luck cooking them in the microwave.}
So, finding this recipe has been perfect!

All you do is this:

Wash & dry potatoes & prick them a time or two with a knife/fork.
Wrap each potato in aluminum foil.

* Sometimes I spray the foil with cooking spray & sprinkle with coarse sea salt
before wrapping up.

Toss all the potatoes in the crock pot & pop on the lid.
{Do not add water!}

Viola!  That's it!   Cook for 2.5 - 4 hours, depending on the size of the potatoes.

You can test doneness by sticking a knife through foil into potato.

  1. I wanted to specify:
    crock pot on HIGH for 2.5-4 hrs...
    or on low for a few hrs longer.
    Remember to test doneness periodically.

  5. The key to the microwave is making sure they have standing time... it continues to cook after the microwave is off for up to 10 minutes (the microwave setting won't tell you that)

    This way sounds great too though!

  7. I've heard about this, but never pursued it... I love it! I have one of those crock pot buffet servers (each crock pot is 2.5 quarts and has their own settings!) and I could cook them in one of those while meat and other veggies cook in the other two! I didn't think it would be too hard! Sounds good! Awesome way to fix Sunday dinner while at church! Love it! Love YOU, too, my friend!
